Each year the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) runs an Injury Prevention Week. This year’s runs from 2 – 6 August.

After 16 months, where we have all been striving to keep those around us safe from infection, the theme for this year’s week is taking care of each other’s safety. In the year to March 2020 (the most recent figures available) 829,252 compensation claims were registered with the Department for Work and Pensions. Even though that was 33,000 fewer than the previous year, the figure still represents hundreds of thousands of avoidable accidents, many of which will have devastated people’s lives.

The message for this year is that simply by using our common sense, and being aware – when we are using the roads, when we are at work, when we are out and about – just by paying that little extra bit of attention we can stay safe and help to prevent people being needlessly injured.
