National Carers Week 2018
June 11th to 17th recognises the contribution made by carers and the difficulties they may face. It has been calculated that there are 6.5 million carers in the UK, and according to the Carers Club website 6,000 people become carers every day. A carer is defined as someone providing unpaid care and support looking after a parent, child or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health problem or who needs extra help as they grow older.
This year Carers Week is emphasising the need for carers to stay healthy themselves and to remain connected to their own friends, family and the wider community.
