The government has now restarted the housing market and permitted viewings. You must however follow all government guidance in relation to viewing a property. In other circumstances we would also advise a client to view a property prior to an exchange of contracts to ensure there has been no changes since the offer was placed and to do the final checks on the property such as the electrics, the gas, ensuring all keys are available, all utilities are working etc.

However, carrying out a viewing at present you must follow all necessary government guidance and protections. You must not therefore view a property if you are subject to any self-isolation requirements or are poorly in any way. If you choose to attend the property it is at your risk and you must take all necessary measures to protect yourself and the home owner against infection.

You may also wish to take into account when the property is purchased or sold it will need a good clean.

The government guidance issued on the 13th May is set out below.
