As the Government strives to bring the coronavirus epidemic under control, much of its wider legislative programme has had to be abandoned. One result of this will help injured people. It was announced last week that plans to introduce a scheme whereby most people hurt in car accidents would have to make their own claim through an online portal, without the benefit of legal advice, have been delayed from August until April next year.
This is also good news for people injured at work and in other types of accidents. Under those plans they would have to fund their own legal costs unless their claim is worth more than £2000. That change has also been delayed until April next year.
